Notice is hereby given that the (EDA) Economic Development Authority of Granite Falls, MN will receive sealed bids to construct one (1) single family dwelling and (1) two-family dwelling, referred to as Granite Square – Phase I. The EDA anticipates making three workforce market rate rental units available in Yellow Medicine County within the city limits of Granite Falls.
Bid proposal forms, including specifications, can be obtained from the Granite Falls Economic Development Authority, 641 Prentice Street, Granite Falls, MN 56241 or online at granitefallseda.com. All bids must be placed in a sealed envelope and clearly marked in the lower left-hand corner, “Granite Square – Phase I.” Sealed bids shall be submitted to Granite Falls EDA, 641 Prentice St, Granite Falls, MN 56241, no later than 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021, at which time all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. The EDA is pleased to announce the Camper Cabin is now available for summer rental. The rate is $70/night and can be reserved online. Rustic cabin sleeps five. Includes fire ring, picnic table, electricity, WIFI and heat. Bring your own bedding. No pets. No cooking in the cabin except crockpots.
The EDA and City of Granite Falls are collecting input through a 3 Question Survey for the creation of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and 20-Year Vision. This document will guide City decision-making regarding vision, goals and objectives for general land use, housing, parks and open spaces, transportation, trails, riverfront, infrastructure and economic development. Working with LHB, Inc., public listening sessions were held on June 29 & 30. An online survey was available through August 6. Preliminary recommendations will be shared with City Council on September 7. LHB, Inc. will be attending the CAIR-Squid Fest on Saturday, September 18 to discuss the findings and recommendations with residents.
The survey is designed for businesses and is being conducted spring of 2021 in partnership with the University of Minnesota Extension. Its purpose is to identify challenges and opportunities for the local shopping district, downtown, and the US-212 corridor.
Looking to promote single family and multi-family housing development, Granite Falls Economic Development Authority completed a Housing Study in April 2021. The Comprehensive Housing Market Study was conducted by Community Partners Research Partners, Inc., and shares recommendations on a five-year growth projection in order to meet the needs of current and future households.
A volunteer Housing Committee meets monthly to work on an implementation plan addressing Study findings and recommendations.
Southwest Arts Council $7,000 Grant Award in 2021
This project is funded by a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council – made possible by the voters of Minnesota thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund and an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State’s general fund.

The Holiday Street Décor Committee came together to help select and fundraise for new LED decorations for Granite Falls corridors along US-212, Granite Street, 9th Avenue and Prentice Street. The Committee is planning a Citywide Lighting on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

Downtown Prentice Street multi-use retail and market rate rental or owner-occupied units with a view of the Minnesota River, Granite Falls Dam and the Historical Roebling Footbridge. Prentice Street is Granite Falls’ Main Street and Central Business District.
